Tate Allan Lynch  On October 15, 2007, Sergeant Tate Allan Lynch of the Casa Grande Police Department died after falling from a wall during SWAT rappelling training at the Pinal County Detention Center.

                                                           

Nicke Erfle  On Tuesday, September 15, 2007, Phoenix Police Officer Nick Erfle and his partner contacted three suspicious persons who were walking along a residential street in Phoenix, Arizona.  During the question of the male subject, he gave them a fictitious name with information that there was a warrant for his arrest.  When Officer Erfle and his partner tried to arrest the subject, he pulled out a handgun and fired shots at both officers, killing Officer Erfle.  The suspect fled on foot and carjacked a passing motorist.  The Phoenix Police located the vehicle and blocked it in.  When the suspect threatened the hostage driver, the police shot and killed the suspect.

                                                           

 

George Cortez  On Friday, July 27, 2007, Phoenix Police Officer George Cortez responded to a check cashing store after receiving a call of a forgery in progress.  After he arrived he attempted to take the suspect into custody.  He was shot several times and later died at the hospital.  The suspect and his girlfriend accomplice were arrested the following day.

                                                           

 

   

Philip Rodriguez  On Saturday, April 21, 2007, Mohave County Deputy Philip Rodriguez, 21 years old, was involved in a one vehicle accident while on duty and died after his vehicle rolled several times.  He had been a deputy with the Mohave County Sheriff's Office for less than one year.  Before he became a deputy officer he worked as a detention officer.  He began his aspiration to become a law enforcement officer when as a teenager he was an Explorer with the Mohave County Sheriff's Office.

                                                           

 

Anthony Holly  On Monday, February 19, 2007, Anthony Holly, 24 years old, a police officer with the Glendale, Arizona Police Department was murdered during a shoot out with suspects during a traffic stop.  Officer Holly, who had been with the Glendale PD for two years was shot after he and another Glendale PD officer pulled over a suspicious vehicle.  During the shootout one of the suspects was wounded.  All three suspects were arrested at the scene.
